Bill Kaufman founded Kaufman Broadcast in 1982. In the past 20 years, Bill has spearheaded Kaufman's growth from a small, family-run business into a nationally-known, trusted organization that provides the highest quality services for clients all over the world.
As president, Bill participates in every aspect of the business, from leading high-level conceptual planning to taking care of intricate technical details. He might spend one day coordinating plans for worldwide distribution of the papal visit and the next climbing on a client's roof to help them restore their satellite dish after a thunderstorm.
A lifelong St. Louisan, Bill grew up in the business. He traces his love of broadcasting back to when he was a five-year-old boy helping a neighbor operate a low-power FM radio station from his basement.
Bill's passion for radio continued in high school when he became the News Director and
Chief Engineer of a low-power FM radio station at Clayton High School. That experience led him to an internship at PBS station KETC-TV and then to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
By the time Bill had reached his early 20s, he had already worked as an on-air TV news reporter at KPLR-TV and as a radio newscaster for KSLQ-FM.
After realizing that his true passion involved producing live television, Bill decided to go behind the scenes. He accepted a position as a broadcast engineer at KSDK Channel 5, St. Louis's NBC affiliate. This move behind the camera gave Bill the opportunity he had been looking for to shape the look and feel of events.
